About client + project

Modern, remodeled home with a coveted mountaintop view of the city. Young, professional couple that loves color, culture, and the feeling of barefoot elegance.

The objectives for the client were:
  • Revamp their dated, lumbering landscape and eliminate inappropriate/unsuitable plantings.
  • Create a fresh, modern design that blended their Indian and Jewish heritages.
  • Mitigate the problems with their existing hardscape, without doing a “full demo”.

We consulted with the clients on changing the color of the home’s exterior from a dated, desert pink to a striking, slate blue. We designed a custom front door, and custom outdoor furniture to work in with their existing pieces. The fence was painted a grey shade to complement the Mexican river rock. Lady slippers and barrel cacti popped against the subdued palette, and those citron shades were echoed throughout.

The well-maintained pool became the centerpiece of the backyard. A problematic wall seat was fitted with undulating, custom seat cushions in jewel tones and rich, geometric textiles. White paint and pastel fire glass brought the fire pit to life, and an application of Hollywood Regency style – with a dash of “desert casual” – enabled a seamless blend of their unique cultures.

“We deliberated over every aspect of this design, and Elizabeth held our hand the entire way. She was so patient and knowledgeable…it really helped take the pressure off of us to know that she was managing our installation.”
