This expansive rooftop overlooking the Ritz Carlton St. Louis was BOXHILL’s first Virtual Design project. The client submitted photos and measurements through our online portal and together, we created a cohesive furniture and design plan.
The rooftop space is very long and before the redesign, it almost had a bowling alley feel, so we decided to break it up into 4 distinct areas.
- Morning coffee area (right outside of doors)
- Dining area (bbq+ dining table + credenza area)
- TV entertainment area (center)
- Lounge area (opposite end of dining)

AFTER

We added pavers and ran irrigation, water and electrical underneath them for the fountain and water for all planters. They also function as drainage so there is no standing water on deck.
The slight curve of the balcony presented a challenge at first because nothing could flatly lay against it.
We also had color restrictions; we were only allowed to use neutrals like black, grey, white or tan.
The client’s house was a monochromatic gray inside, so we decided to extend that feeling to the outside. We brought in the black to ground the design, and paired with the black, it looks amazing.
The client is very happy with the result and couldn’t be more pleased with her space!
