We have some super exciting projects to share with you guys in the upcoming months (hint: they’re basically a tropical design dream!). Right now they’re under wraps, but we’d love to share some of our inspiration images with you and 3 tips for incorporating tropical style at home while summer is still in full swing.

1. The bolder the better
Don’t shy away from a daring tile choice or splashy tropical leaf print – more is really more when it comes to tropical style. To keep spaces looking serene rather than too busy, balance bold patterns with more limited color palettes like green, blue, whites and neutrals with high-intensity accent colors.

2. Add plants, then add MORE
Tropical design is all about evoking a feeling of lushness. Layer plants in the landscape of varying shapes, sizes, and foliage types and bring them into living spaces in containers and as cut branches in vases. Reinforce a foliage theme with throw pillows, botanical prints, or wall paper. (Isn’t the one in the powder room above gorgeous?)

3. Choose natural materials and textures
Chunky sea grass mats, woven seat-backs on chairs, and smooth teak all add richness to living spaces and give them an inviting warmth that works perfectly with a tropical theme. A few of our favorite furniture lines have excellent options for natural materials like the woven rattan footstool and handmade Malawi cane chair shown above. And really, you can’t beat a hanging swing daybed.
